REAA 2008

Real Estate Agents Authority

As of Tuesday 17th November 2009, the Real Estate Agents Authority (REAA) replaced the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ) as the oversight body for the real estate industry.

The REAA is a Crown entity, established under the Real Estate Agents Act 2008 to provide independent oversight of the real estate industry, increase consumer protection and raise industry standards. Created to assist both our clients (people buying or selling property) and ourselves (those who work in the real estate industry), the authority's focus is to ensure a high standard of service and professionalism within the industry, and provide increased consumer protection.
