You’ll never find another home like this, crafted specifically to exacting standards, it is a stunning example of modern architecture yet is timeless all at once.
Originally commissioned by gallery owner Gary Langsford to design a family home that would also accommodate his vast art collection he enlisted New York based architect David Howell. The pair shared a love for concrete and this unique, essentially tilt slab residence, proves just how impressive and stunning this modern material is. With ample wall space, yet also flooded in light, the internal concrete walls provide the perfect backdrop for art, furniture and family living. Inspired by Japan’s notable architect Tadao Ando this residence is a work of art itself.
So extraordinary is this home, you simply have to see it to believe it. You can’t even get a glimpse from the street – tucked down a leafy driveway on one of Herne Bay’s most sought-after Northern Slopes Avenues, this quiet and private abode is surrounded by lush greenery and basks in all day sun.
It’s incredibly spacious, not only considering the soaring stud height but also the generously appointed rooms. Downstairs is dedicated to living with two separate areas – a large lounge with fireplace and French doors to the courtyard and then the open plan kitchen, dining and family lounge flowing directly to a sundrenched north-facing terrace overlooking the 19metre lap pool. Adjacent to the kitchen is a flexi space currently used as an office but originally designed as a gymnasium, which has a separate entrance and wet-room.
Upstairs the master suite has his and hers showers and beautiful mosaic tiled bath positioned to beneath bifolding windows to give that connection to the outside.
Another two double bedrooms, family bathroom and plenty of storage tick all the boxes for families with kids of all ages.
A separate wing downstairs includes a guest suite with double bedroom and guest bathroom.
The internal access double garage is generous in size and offers plenty of storage for toys and tools.
A visual feast to the eye, that is also incredibly family friendly and functional this is a home to have and behold for years to come. A haven away from the world that ticks all the boxes.
