Built in 1863 by Paddy Galvin, one of the original settlers of this early Gold Mining Town, this unique and picturesque cottage sits on a rise over looking the original township. One of the most romantic ski cottages in NZ, immaculately and lovingly restored, this property is truely unique and considered a collectors item as they are now so rare to find. The surrounding area is undergoing a rapid change from what was tradtionally a farming village since the gold rush to what is destined to be one of the most special winter, and summer, tourist areas in New Zealand. The Crown Range Road is currently being upgraded as is the Cardrona Ski Field with new lifts and snow making facilities. There are Gondolas proposed for the valley, the first to access the Snow Farm and Snow Park facilities, with cross country skiing and snow board park in the winter and extensive mountain bike terrain in the summer. The World Winter Games will take place here in 2009 and every 2 years thereafter. There is also a building platform of 1000m2 behind Galvins Cottage for further development and plans for a barn are included.
